Types of Disability Programs

Social Security Disability Insurance

(SSDI or DIB) pays benefits to you if you are "insured," meaning that you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes on past earnings.

Supplemental Security Income

(SSI) is a needs-based program intended for low-income individuals who are disabled. To qualify, you cannot exceed the resource limit set by the SSA. The resource limit is $2,000 for single individuals & $3,000 for couples.

When you apply for either program, SSA will collect medical and other information from you and decide on whether or not you meet Social Security’s definition of “disabled.” At the Disability Benefits Law Center, we are a dedicated and experienced team of Social Security Disability attorneys and staff, that is ready to get started helping you with your claim!
