At the Disability Benefits Law Center, our attorneys represent clients throughout Milwaukee County and the surrounding areas in Social Security matters.

Leah Drexler-Dreis, Attorney
After graduating from law school, Leah subsequently joined her dad (a “daughter and dad collaboration”) at the Disability Benefits Law Center in 2008, where she worked as a non-attorney representative while attending law school.
After graduating in 2012, she began working as an attorney, exclusively representing claimants on Social Security disability matters.
Her practice covers initial application, reconsideration levels, administrative hearings, Appeals Council, and federal court appeals. In her free time, she enjoys writing, spending time with her family, and traveling.

Mitchell Phillips Attorney
Prior to joining the Disability Benefits Law Center, Mitchell worked at Community Advocates as a disability attorney representing Social Security disability claimants at all levels of administrative appeal.
He subsequently worked for the Social Security Administration for 10 years as a technical expert, claims specialist, and benefit authorizer.
Before attending law school, Mitchell served in the United States Peace Corps as an education and rural community health volunteer.
When not working, Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family and dog, traveling to get to know a place and its people, and cooking.

David Dreis, Attorney
David worked with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) as a co-director of the alternative sentencing project in Fresno, CA in 1978-79. He attended NYU Law School after being awarded the Root-Tilden Fellowship for dedication to public service law.
He subsequently worked at Legal Services at Queens Legal Services after being awarded the Reginald Heber Smith (“Reggie”) fellowship and worked as the director of Social Security disability services. In 1983, he managed the Legal Action of Wisconsin (LAW) offices in Kenosha and Racine and then worked as the director of Social Security disability services in the Milwaukee LAW office.
David opened the Disability Benefits Law Center in Milwaukee in 1992 as a solo attorney, practicing exclusively Social Security disability law, until his retirement in 2025.
